Can't believe I finished my first week of student teaching! I haven't officially started teaching, but it's a still a mile marker. My week started at the Mid Winter Convention for PA FFA on Monday! Pequea Valley had three keystone recipients, and an additional four students received their first FFA jacket. Being a convention brought back my memories of earning my first FFA jacket and my state degree. Back then those were huge accomplishments for me that launch me into this crazy journey of Ag Ed. The last few days I have been observing classes and getting to know some of the students that I'll be teaching. They are interesting, to say the least, but I can't wait until I actually teach team! As of now, I have one more week of observation then I start off with large animal science!
Manny,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the blog post. As we look ahead, I am going to ask for more depth.
Essentially, let's try to have one thing from each week that you really flesh out to advance you knowledge/teacher identity. Essentially, I want you to write something you are PROUD of...something you want to share and have people read because it is a window into who you are as an educator.
Think about it - a minimum of 10 big ideas at the end that you can really hold on to.
To do this, I suggest you use our model -
REACT (in a journal)
pick one thing and REFLECT - the blog post
RESPOND - learn from others
Let me know if you have questions but lets raise the bar!
Manny, sounds like a great start to your student teaching internship. Glad to hear that you were able to enjoy Farm Show/Mid-Winter Convention with your students. I know it seems like a lot of watching and waiting right now, but you will soon find a groove in your daily routine and the fun begins! Can't wait to hear more about it.
